Dear Elvis friends,
A family in my community is in need of assistance. This past summer Lauren Spanagel, a 7th grade student was diagnosed with bone cancer. Due to the nature of her illness, she is homebound this year.
Lauren has had surgery to remove her tumor and undergone reconstructive surgery on her arm and is starting Chemotherapy treatments. Lauren continues to have tests and treatments which mean that many visits to Children's Hospital are becoming a way of life for Lauren and her family.
Lauren's mother is the owner of her own home based dog grooming business. With caring for Lauren being their highest priority, and trying to keep things normal for their younger daughter, she had to cut back on her business. This has put a strain on the family's income. As you may imagine, Lauren's illness has affected many aspects of their lives. Lauren and her family still face a long road ahead. Battling cancer is extremely hard mentally, physically and financially.
Anyone who would like to help, you can make an online donation via this web site. All proceeds donated online will go directly to Lauren and her family to help in the battle of this terrible illness. Thank you all.
Sincerely,
John Garner

Lauren and her family will be at tonight's Spaghetti Dinner & benefit. Lauren is
taking Radiation treatments 4 to 5 times a week, her next Chemotherapy treatment will be on Halloween. That's a lousy way for a kid to spend Halloween.

Lauren is doing well, so well in fact that this week is her last Chemotherapy treatment. Doctors will continue to keep an eye on her but right now everything looks good.
